Ten year anniversary

Ten year anniversary

Today marks Rubicon’s tenth anniversary. Over the last ten years the company has delivered over 200 projects for more than 50 clients predominantly in the NHS, but also private health providers and charities. The company works through an associate network and partnerships with other SMEs; currently we have an associate network of 53 compared to 12 when Rubicon was launched. Rubicon continues to be busy and is currently engaged as lead or a sub-contractor, on nine projects for clients ranging from NHSE, a charity and four NHS providers.

Primary care scheme reviews

We have completed  our latest tranche of ETTF bid reviews on behalf of NHS England.  Rubicon has been working alongside Pick Everards to review ETTF bids since spring 2019 and to date, has delivered nearly 20 reviews.

Financial and economic modelling for primary care

Rubicon has recently completed economic and financial modelling for two proposed primary care premises developments on behalf of Dorset CCG.  Working alongside colleagues from Medical Architecture, we delivered full business cases to the commissioner client.

Evelina Children’s Hospital

Rubicon’s work with Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital NHSFT to develop the full business case for new theatre capacity for the London Evelina Children’s Hospital reached a key milestone at the end of April with the publication of the FBC.

Adult Cerebral Palsy Hub

Rubicon is pleased to have been selected by this charity to write an economic appraisal of options to improve services for adults with cerebral palsy.

Derbyshire PICU

Rubicon has recently written an outline business case for Derbyshire Healthcare for a new psychiatric intensive care unit.

ETTF bid reviews

We have continued our work for NHSE reviewing OBC and FBC bids for ETTF funding from several CCGs. Over the December to January period Rubicon consultants completed seven reviews, the reports on which form part of NHSE’s investment assessment process.

Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells

Shortly before Christmas, Rubicon completed its our first piece of work for Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust following an introduction from a former colleague.  The project was a short business case for new car parking at the trust’s two main hospital sites, necessitated by ongoing activity growth at the Maidstone and Pembury sites.  Both investments were approved by the trust board in December and will be delivered by the end of March 2020.

Surrey and Borders satelitte hub for Spelthorne

Rubicon’s work with Surrey and Borders continues with the recent approval of a investment case to create a satellite hub for the trust’s community services, in the Spelthorne area of Surrey.  The satellite will complement the community hub opened by the trust in 2018 and which Rubicon had provided business writer support for,

East Suffolk & North Essex FT

We have recently completed a refresh of this trust’s estate strategy working alongside WT Partnership.  This recently merged large acute trust needed a new estate strategy to reflect its emerging clinical and corporate strategy which in turn, reflects opportunities arising from the merger.  We had previously worked on phase one of the strategy in 2018 and delivered phase two over summer 2019.
